Developing a Community of Writers
A one day course for teachers and practitioners in nurseries, schools and other under fives settings.
"Talk for Writing is the exploration, through talk, of the thinking and creative processes involved in being a writer. We take children on a magical journey as we, alongside them, explore what it is to be a writer."

We will focus on:
Physical development and its impact on children developing as writers.
Characteristics of learning will be woven throughout the session.
Facilitators: Helen Banks, Gill Coathup, and Felicity Thomas
Date: Friday 20/6/14 Time: 9.30-3.30
Venue: Earlham Early Years, Centre Cadge Road, Norwich. NR5 8DB
Course fees: £60 per delegate, £100 for two delegates from the same setting. This includes a sandwich lunch, tea, and coffee

- Composition: having something to say, deciding what to write and composing the message
- Transcription : knowing how to write
- Being confident and excited about writing
- The importance of a rich language environment indoors and outdoors that stimulates and supports writing
- Boys and writing: meeting the challenge
- How new technologies support writing
- Sharing and celebrating children’s writing
- Assessing progress.
