Planning, Doing and Reviewing in Single Age and Mixed Age Classes
Benefits and Challenges
A one day course for Reception and KS1 Teachers, working in schools
“We have come to understand that the benefits of mixed age groupings rest on the assumptions that the differences within the group of children can be a source of rich intellectual and social benefit.”
Lilian Katz (2005)
A large number of children in Norfolk and Suffolk schools are taught in mixed age classes, often with children from EYFS and KS1 in the same class. This brings challenges particularly with the new curriculum (2014) but it also brings many benefits.
We will focus on:
Facilitators: Helen Banks, Gill Coathup, and Felicity Thomas
Date: Friday 3/10/2014 Time: 9.30-3.30
Venue: Earlham Early Years, Centre Cadge Road, Norwich. NR5 8DB
Course fees: £60 per delegate, £100 for two delegates from the same setting. This includes a sandwich lunch, tea, and coffee
