Quality Provision for 2 Year Olds 2015
A three day course for practitioners and leaders in settings providing places
for 2 year olds.
Day 1: The Wonder of 2 Saturday June 13th
We will focus on:
Day 2: A Good Place to be 2 Saturday September 19th
We will focus on:
Day 3 The 2 Year Old Check: keeping the conversation going. Saturday November 14th
We will focus on:
Early identification of development needs.
How the voice of the child can be heard in the check.
The role of the emotionally responsive key person.

Date: Saturdays 13/6/15, 19/9/15 & 14/11/15 Time: 9.30-3.30
Venue: Earlham Early Years, Centre Cadge Road, Norwich. NR5 8DB
Course fees: £180 per delegate, £150 for two delegates from the same setting. This includes lunch, tea, and coffee

We will focus on:
- What it means to be two: research on the development of 2 year olds.
- Significant attachments: the role of the key person as a secondary attachment figure.
- The role of the key person as ‘teacher’.
- How 2 year olds think: schematic development, recent research.
- Supporting the Prime Areas of Learning and how they link to the Specific Areas.
- Observing 2 year olds: Plan, Do, Review
Day 2: A Good Place to be 2 Saturday September 19th
We will focus on:
- Providing a developmentally appropriate and rich learning environment both indoors and outdoors.
- Supporting learning and development within an enabling environment.
- The role of an emotionally responsive adult in supporting learning and development.
- The need for an emotionally safe environment where children can be active, relax, explore, and imagine and where their well-being is nurtured and enhanced.
Day 3 The 2 Year Old Check: keeping the conversation going. Saturday November 14th
We will focus on:
- Key aspects of child development: ‘What to Expect When’
- Establishing starting points, observing and monitoring progress.
- What processes do we have for sharing information with parents and carers and other agencies involved with the child?
- Home learning: parents and practitioners working together to improve outcomes for children.
- The Two Year Old Check:
